About the Owners

The Steadings at the Grouse and Trout really does offer a welcome to everybody whether it is for a restaurant meal or a drink in the lounge bar. A large selection of malt whisky is available including Tomatin 18 years old. Caledonian brewery beers keep the strong local influence. The restaurant menu changes a little most days and offers a wide choice of Scottish and international dishes all prepared with care, using fresh produce where possible. Reservations are required as we believe in operating a relaxed atmosphere where you will not be rushed from your table but given ample time to sample the wines from the excellent list.

Your hosts are David and Mary Allen who come to the Steadings Hotel with a wealth of experience in the hotel industry. Their first venture was in Stonehaven where they had a guesthouse which is still operating today. Their first licensed property was on Royal Deeside.

A further 15 years was spent in Dumfries where they undertook to convert and old school into a three star conference and business hotel with full leisure facilities. Their last hotel in the Highlands was the Inn at Ardgour just south of Fort William and then they retired!- well at least until too much TV became a bore and the urge to be back in the hospitality industry became too strong to resist.

The Steadings at the Grouse and Trout is their present challenge and it is hoped that this venue will become a popular and good place to recommend, not only for tourists but for local people to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you to our hospitality and our hotel home.
